I've decided to downsize my PC as I am not really using it that much to game other than play lotro.

I will be keeping my Dell U2515H 1440p monitor (as I love it) as well as the keyboard and mouse I currently use. All the pc needs to do is run lotro at half decent settings on 1440p plus surf the internet, word stuff, email and playing music, movies over my home network.

I think I would probably also get rid of the Corsair 250d. The smaller the case the better really.

Budget wise I don't think what I want will cost all that much and the sale of my current components will easily cover the cost of a new pc.

Spec me up pls. :D

Why not just buy a matx / itx motherboard + case and transfer your stuff in?

Sell the 980, buy one of those itx 970 crads or whatever takes you fancy, sell the motherboard and buy a matx / itx motherboard and jobs a gooden? bonus is, you can still play any game you want.

Or do you want to claw some money back?

The VII Impact is an mITX board but its an overkill for what I need.

and yeah I'd like to claw some money back

I see. Flog it, buy a G, non overclockable motherboard because the 4790k @ stock is a beast anyway (probably net you a good chunk). sell the case (I have no idea what its worth) buy an athesticly pleasing case. Sell the 980, get an ITX 970 (I imagine you will make nothing from this) and job done.

Or, go with the sell the whole rig and buy a new rig idea, which is what you want to do I gather?

If so, consider how much it will save compared the the above plan compared to what you loose. If you plan to sell on a popular aution site, its fees will erode all you money away untill you are left with a crappy system and no extra money IMO.

I am looking for a cheaper mini itx board than the one I currently have (see sig). As long as the board can run 2560 x 1440p from the onboard graphics I will be happy. I may add a graphics card too I just don't know yet.
I will then need a small case to fit it all no more than 26cm high and 24cm wide.
