Hi guys,

My old Athlon 2600 is on its last legs and can't cope with what I ask of it. Now thinking of upgrading to something newer. Beyong basic web browsing and MS Office tasks, the main thing I use my PC for is photo editing for which I'm planning to upgrade to Adobe Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS4 from Adobe Elements 5 and Photoshop 7 in the near future. Also plan to play the odd game such as COD5, Crysis etc (don't even want to think of trying my current rig with these!).

Can't really justify the outlay for Core i7 so thinking of basing my new rig around Intel Q6600, ATI Radeon HD4870 and Vista Home 64 Bit. I plan to use my existing Dell 2007WFP but may look for a second one of same spec to run a dual monitor setup at a later date.

I'd be grateful for your thoughts on this core spec and what RAM (and how much), size of power supply, etc I should be considering based on my PC use as stated above. Budget is in the region of £600 - £700 which needs to include a decent case. :)

get the corsair 650w psu.

get 4gb of pc6400 ram (corsair is pretty decent).

might be worth look at the phenomII quad's as well cpu wise.

Phenom II or Core 2 Quad Q9xxx is what I'd go for id I were you. Both will perform faster than the Q6600 at Video rendering, aswell as gaming (due to higher stock clockspeeds). Memory wise, go for PC6400 DDR2 as this will be fast enough for most systems these days and is a good price too atm :)
