Currently rocking an old OCZ ZS 650w power supply which came with my old prebuilt pc.

I'm in the process of building a new X99 system in a Enthoo Evolve ATX case.

The power supply has to power the following:

6850k i7
1070gtx
2 SSD's
AIO cooler
I would also like to add another GPU sometime next year.

I would also like to use some sleeved cables, I have a budget of £250 for the power supply and the sleeved cables.

As you can see I don't have a clue when it comes to power supplies, so any help would be great thanks!

I would probably go with a 750w psu for 1070 sli on X99 although you could probably get away with 650w. Take a look at these:-

My basket at Overclockers UK:

The Bitfenix Whisper 750w is a CWT built unit with quad 12v rails. Each group of components has it's own rail so 12v1 is for Motherboard + Peripherals, 12v2 is for CPU, 12v3 is for GPU 1 and 12v4 is for GPU 2. The full 750w is available across the 12v rails and it has a 7 year warranty. Review of the 850w version here.

The XFX XTR 750w is a Seasonic built unit with a single 12v rail of 744w and has a 5 year warranty. Review here.

The Superflower Leadex gold has a single 12v rail of 749w and has a 5 year warranty. Review here. Be aware that all Superflower Leadex models have bright white led's where the cables plug in and they cannot be turned off.

The Superflower Leadex Platinum 750w has a single 12v rail of 749w and has a 5 year warranty. Review here. Same as above with regards to the led's.

The EVGA Supernova G2 750w is built by Superflower and is basically a Leadex Gold with a different fan, no led's and a longer warranty at 10 years. It has a single 12v rail of 749w. Review here.

The EVGA Supernova P2 750w is built by Superflower and is basically a Leadex Platinum with a different fan, no led's and a longer warranty at 10 years. It has a single 12v rail of 749w. Review here.

The Corsair RMx series is argueably the best series that Corsair sell and the 750w version is no exception. It's a CWT built unit with a single 12v rail of the full 750w and has a 10 year warranty. Review here.

Some of them would have to be used with cable extensions if you wanted braided cables. This is a much cheaper option and would not be a problem with your case as the psu sits in it's own compartment anyway. If you still wanted full cable sets then you are limited to the Corsair RM750X, XFX XTR750, Superflower Leadex Gold and Platinum 750w and the EVGA G2 and P2 750w.

Personally I would always go for braided extension cables, especially with a case such as yours where the psu is hidden away as it's a much cheaper option. These full cable kits range from half to three quarters of the price of the psu.

Thanks for that :) I'm thinking the:
1 x EVGA Supernova P2 750W '80 Plus Platinum' Modular Power Supply= £132.95

Should suit my needs perfectly, now to find some sleeved cables / extensions

Thanks again for your help!

If you go down the extensions route then any will fit as they just plug onto the ends of the current cables. Silverstone, Bitfenix and Phanteks do some nice sets ranging from £16-25 and are listed here on ocuk's website. the phanteks kits include the 24 pin, 8 pin, a pair of pci-e cables and they also include the cable combs. any additional cables such as hdd/ssd you need to buy seperately. the bitfenix kits come with the same cables but no cable combs. the silverstone kits seem like good value when you look at the picture but click on the product and you find that as standard they only come with the 24 pin, 8 pin and a 6 pin pci-e cable. if you wants a 6+2 pin pci-e cable instead it's extra and so are the sata/molex cables. alternatively you can just buy individual cables so you only get what you are going to use.

if you go for the far more expensive cable sets you need particular ones to fit the psu. i have been through all the kits that ocuk sells and you need either the cablemod e-series g2 & p2 or bitfenix alchemy 2.0 psu cable kit, evg/sf-series so any of these:-

But don't forget which cable came from where. :D

We have had a couple of threads on here over the years where someone went down that route, fitted the wires back in the wrong places and blew up his psu and gpu. Another took all the leads apart without writing down which ones went to which position, got confused, gave up and bought a cable set on top of all the braid and stuff he had already bought.

Thanks for all the help it's greatly appreciated. Because of my budget I'm going to buy the complete kit along with that power supply. Thanks once again
