Currently I have a Corsair HX750w but this seems to be having issues. These being when the pc is just sitting there and switched off I can hear a high pitched buzzing sound coming from the PSU. It make a loud click sound during post and twice more when the starting Windows 7 animation is on screen.

I don't really want to be without it over christmas so what would you guys recommend as replacement? I will then look at RMA'ing my current to corsair in the new year and keep it as a spare.

  • Intel Core i7 2600k
  • Asus P8P67 Deluxe
  • 6 Gb Corsair 1600 Mhz RAM
  • Asus GTX570 Direct CU II
  • Intel 510 250 Gb SSD
  • Western Digital Blue 1Tb
  • LG BLuray reader dvd burner
  • Asus Xonar DX PCi-e

I currently have 2 sticks of DD3 1600 mhz giving me 8 gb. My only requirements are that it is modular and as quiet as possible. Also hopefully doesn't also suffer with the issues that this current Corsair one seems to have.

I won't be looking to SLi or anythings as the cooler on my current 570 is a triple height one.

I have just checked again and it is 2 sticks. I got mixed up with the other rig I have which is a triple channel setup.

I did some testing last night and it seems to be the PSU at fault with what I assume is coil whine. As I unplugged the power from the motherboard and GPU and while it lessend the noise it was still present (this while the pc is powered off).

I think I have narrowed it down to 2 and I am not sure which one to go for.

The OCZ ZT 750w

XFX 750 XXX Black

Where available I may get the 650w version if available.

Ive used two of the cheaper corsair PSU's in builds this month. Both of them emitted a high pitch noise. I have super sensitive hearing it was bairly audiable to others. Corsair should look into it because its defiently there though. Frustrating because i like their psu's.

I think the fact you have super sensitive hearing is the problem not Corsair PSU's.
