Spec me a new router for better wifi

Digging out an old router and expecting devices to roam between that and the existing one is asking for trouble. Without any kind of assisted roaming or ability to tweak levels at least then you'll end up with devices stuck on low signal strengths

I disagree and you are putting words into my mouth but as I am not interested in scoring points I will leave you to your mission.

Thanks guys, I'll have a proper dig through this lot later. I might try just moving it to a more central location.

What's the app that can measure wifi signals? Wifiman? Easy enough to use?

I use WifiAnalyzer from Vrem on Android. It’s open source.

Wifiman on android, dead easy to use - shows signal strengths for each access point and also allows you to walk around and generate a heat map

Ubiquiti do some APs that plug straight into a socket. Run an Ethernet to it, set it up as an AP and you should be good to go?
