Well I am in dire need of a new router. I have 4mb O2 broadband this is the best my area can get and I have the bob standard O2 router I believe it's the (Thomson TG585v7) and my network adapter is a (tenda w311u). All I can say is I've put up with this router for over a year and since coming back from university it's done nothing but cause me hassle.

Firstly I'd like to say I'm a "die hard" gamer and it would seem lately every other day I'm having to port forward then un-port forward then resetting my router and it's driving me insane. I mean most of the time I only have 1 to 2 bars of signal and the router is in the living room directly under my room. :S

Honestly I am currently studying network at university but I'm finding it really hard to find a decent router it would seem one site give it a great review but then the next just completely shun's it.

THE BUSINESS!
Anyway as the title says down to the business my computer is located upstairs in my room and the router is plugged into the only phone line which is located downstairs this means I have to use wireless. Also before anyone recommends it, a long Ethernet cable is out of the question.

Basically I would like a router that has excellent wireless connectivity as mine seems to drop out every 20 or 30 minutes. The price range I'm going for is anywhere up to £30 - £35 possibly £40. Now I understand this is not a lot but I'm pretty sure some of you hardcore network heads can recommend me something excellent.

Anyway thanks for reading ^_____^

£35 is not a lot of money.

I reckon its your wirless adapter thats the problem rather than the router.

I googled your adapter and its a usb adater that sells for £6....

I would upgrade that first!

In my years of experience, wireless is a very overrated technology.

How far away are you from the router?

Walls, construction? Signal strength?

If you still think the router is problem, you could flash it to the latest firmware, or request a new one from your ISP.

It's got the latest firmware and my wireless adapter goes up to 150mbps my router does 24 - 54mbps I cant remember which. As for my signal I'm either at 2 or 3 bars nothing more and the signal needs to travel from the living room ceiling/my floor which I believe just to be bob standard nothing too thick or special.
