I fancy an upgrade but really don't have the time for messing around anymore - I',m not that much of an enthusiast these days.

What I mean is my current rig is housed in a lian li v2000 with a phase unit (now unused) in the bottom and triple rad loop in the top which was a great project at the time but now I can't be bothered with all that.

What I want is a 2500K overclocked rig to ~4.5 and I don't want to have to do much modding

budget is ~500. I need

cpu
motherboard (no need for SLI / xfire - not much of a gamer these days)
ram (4gb)
case
cooling (I am prepared to take the loop out of the old case but I can't be bothered with cutting up a new case etc. But also willing to go back to air if not too noisy or a h70 or similar. I no longer feel the need for THE best cooling to get THE best overclock)
I'm assuming my psu will be ok unless there are any new connector requirements since skt775

Cheers.

no. I'll migrate the gfx/hdd/optical drive and stuff from my current rig. It's only a 4890 but I rarely game these days.

I've also seen a pre oc 2500K at 4.5 based on a MSI P67A-GD53 Intel P67 (REV B3). What's that board like. this is £380,

Are most 2500K'S capable of this? I've only started thinking of this upgrade today but have a lot of oc experience on other cpu's/chipsets. A bundle does seem to save me thinking about much though which is a good thing at present.

I believe that the norm for a 2500K is about that, yeah. Not got one myself, but I've heard that they go to at least 4.X if not 5 with a little bit of luck.

At the moment I am looking at the below coming in at £446. Possibly may change the cooler to a Frio but as this ram, cooler and mobo can be bought in bundles I am sure it fits. Also may go for 8gb ram. I think my current PSU (Tagan modular - not sure on model number - 600w) has all the necessary connections and I don't need a new gfx card yet.
