Spec me a new system for £250

I need to build a new system with a budget of £250 for the base unit.

I have been out of the hardware loop for a while as my interests changed and finding it hard to figure out the most efficient cost/performance machine.

Initial recon seems to suggest a AMD X2 based system - but all suggestions are welcome.

Edit:
I already have - I have some RAM (DDR400), a PCI-E X300 or something and an optical drive.

The motherboard supports both DDR and DDR2 memory so there's space to upgrade. The cooler should be quiter (and cooler) than the stock cooler.

That spec looks pretty good. You did miss out a hdd, but I might be able to manage a little more money to cover that.
