I have been reading the sun for a long time and i am generally sick of their sensationalist story's and misleading headlines [applys to other tabloids as well]

What would be a a good paper to read with out the exaggerated sensationalist crap thats only designed to get people riled up and preferably one that doesn't have misleading headlines?

The only newspaper I have found which consistently reports the facts with absolute minimal sensationalism is the Financial Times. The rest are a farce. As the old saying goes, "Those who do not read newspapers are uninformed. Those who read newspapers are misinformed".

I'm a Times reader and, although there are still articles I question, I find it the best of a bad bunch of newspapers in this country.

The sports sections are always good. The sports journalists who write for the Times are the best in the country in my opinion. Particularly when Simon Barnes gets on his high horse about something.

The Telegraph is a good paper as long as you understand its long standing right of centre political position.

The Independent is a more balanced left of centre paper than the Guardian but often reads like a fanzine for the global warming alarmist community.

The Times is a middle of the road paper but not one I've ever enjoyed readind and I distrust Murdoch's editorial influence.

The Economist is a good read obviously a strong financial lean in its reporting and as a weekly takes a slightly more measured view.

I read the Telegraph mostly but occasionally the Indy and Guardian for another perspective.

you can check most of them out online. if we get any paper in our house it's usually the observer on sunday otherwise i look at the independent online.

I've stopped buying papers, I pool my weeky newspaper money together buy a interest magazine instead and read all my news online for free. :)

Not exactly speccing you a newspaper, but its an idea.

Same, I get all my news from the BBC website.

The only time i get the paper is when i go on a long train journey.
