Hi Folks, I want to spend the next few days sealing up gaps round my awesomly fitted double glazed windows:rolleyes: Problem is all the sealant I have really smells and takes a while to dry:(

I know you can get quick dry stuff but can you get low odour stuff, the gaps are all round the sills for some reason, so im guessing silicone sealant is the right stuff to use?

Thanks in advance.

is there a good reason for not wanting a smell? just open your windows and it'll go away once dry after an hour.

most arent that bad

Unibond Easy Smooth (sell propellant)

used some last weekend - it worked well - and had no smell at all - was surprised

is Silicon based too

Are you talking about the vinegar smell?

You want to be looking for Neutral cure low modulus or LMN. This is far superior to the Low modulus Acetoxy or LMA silicone and it smells a lot less. You still get a bit of a smell but it's nowhere near as long lasting or harsh as acetoxy silicone and doesnt smell of vinegar.

This is the brand we use and its decent stuff. Not cheap in this listing but you should be able to get it at DIY stores or PVC window supply stores etc. Just ask for LMN and any brand should be ok.

Or you could use acrylic sealant, but I have found this to crack after a while, or peel from the pvc window. Most window fitters usually fit a pvc trim around the window and seal it with a very thin bead of silicone.
