looking for reccomendations for an o/s

requirements are media streaming,watching video and some freeview malarky.



system is an old dell optiflex that i've been using as a doorstop for the last year and a bit,

spec is


Intel celeron 2ghz
512meg of ddr (woot)
20 gig h/d (will be adding an additional couple of hundred gigs eventually
generic freeview card and remote


would you guys reccomend using vista(ram issues) XP or media centre, or some sort of linux based system?

XP Pro you could get media center if you wish but used to be very buggy

you will had time in vista, a guy at work with 1.6ghz dualcore 512mb gets lagging on the internet lol

gentoo linux for you've got a week or two to set it up

If that doesnt tickle your fancy wip out XP pro its pretty good
