Spec me.... a parking area

Seriously fill the hole with cement, it hasnt got to be perfect its a car park.

Aye cement should work. the surface is far from flat and level anwyay, that's not what I'm after. I just dont want to find I get problems 6 months down the line for the sake of a few quid saved. Am going on what the experts have told me so far, but im not ignorant to the fact they might be making work for themselves. In fairness, theres a fair amount of labout just shifting all the rocks on top of the base and destroying the concrete. Skip hire would be problematic due to space, so a company that would take everything away would be good

You wont have a problem, chop the ****ing thing down then chop it up, job done, iv done 40 odd trees in the last couple of years, theres nothing you can tell me about killing trees :D

I can only do a few at a time because the council have a fit :)

Up to you then i guess if you dont feel up to it.

If I just took a saw to the base of it, it would take out my roof or the flats across the road - needs a man in a harness lopping bits off. I definitely cant be trusted climbing trees with a chainsaw :D

Woos! :)

Well pay the minimum for the chop down then, dont go giving these people money for nothing.

of course you dont take a saw to the base of it

You get some ladders and take a saw to the top of it and work your way down :)

I injured my back changing the brakes on my car, do you really think thats the best idea? :)

Still, this is motors - no sensible ideas of how to sensibly organise the space for parking when the tree's gone?

I would do the below

- 2.4m bay width (2.5 is better but 2.4 shouldn't cause problems, it is the same size as many supermarket carparking bays)
- Clearly defines parking area
- Usually no planning required if its an existing parking area
- Relatively low cost (usually around £300 - £500 per visit)

The problematic space is the one on the far left. If budget allows it would be better to resize the bin store so it is shorter and wider.

That looks pretty good, the problem is stopping people dumping other cars in the area behind but i guess I could put the bollards quite far back

The bin store could do with resizing anyway, now the council have decided they can save the world by collecting our bins every 2 weeks, were getting bigger bins which won't fit anyway!

This but with 1/2 electronic bollards at the entrance to stop undesirables parking in the hashed bit?

Not sure how expensive electronic bollards are though

Are people really so inept they have to pay someone good money to remove a small tree?

See above, if i can do it anyone can :D

The only advantage iv got is a bit of space for tree killing, but none the less i think Iain should tackle this himself, its the manly thing to do !

Very satisfying killing a tree i might add.

You can even do the whole TIMBEEEEEEEEEER thing every time you chop a lump off.

Its great fun!

I started tree killing at the age of 8 with a friend and have toppled more trees than I care to mention, recently felling and digging up 20x 25-30ft ones, that was hard work but so so good!

I man who shrugs away from the chance to cut down a tree simply isn’t a man in my books and no doubt enjoys other pastimes such as mincing about :p

Mate youd love it here when we do tree killing, iv burned them, chopped them down with chain saws and dragged them out with 4x4's, few drinks and make a day of it :)

Always good fun chopping down trees :D

Couple of summers ago helped my neighbour chop down a 25m conifer in his back garden, was going great until at the last minute it fell in slightly the wrong direction and crushed part of his fence. Luckily it was only cross hatched fencing so just took few screws/nails and a bit of wood glue to fix.

For one thing, its not small, its pretty bloody big.

It's also not about being inept, I dont have the tools or free time so for the sake of 20 quid (house pays 1/2, flats pay 1/8th each), I may as well get it done the hassle free way
