Hi i am looking to build a PC for my GF that is a graphics designer that uses the likes of photoshop, lightroom.

Some of the other features needed for this build are:

  • IPS panel or similar Monitor above 24inch with accurate colours
  • Able to multi-task through the programs i have mentioned above
  • Run super quiet
  • Ability to be upgradable and needs to last 5-6 years
  • include and Run Windows 10.

The budget is 2.2k for the base unit and Monitor.

She is a primary a Mac user but toying with the idea of going back to windows for better cost per performance ratio.

Is The new AMD chips the way to go or is intel still king?

Ryzen 1700
X370 Motherboard
16GB DDR2666 RAM
512gb SSD
nVidia 1060 6GB
600W PSU
Eizo Monitor - If you want true colours, otherwise Dell are decent with wide gamut.

I'm thinking about building a similar spec for a print rip server at work.

Ryzen 1700 looks good.

I'm going to use a m2 ssd as they make things a bit quicker.

I'm happy with my Dell ips monitor.

At work I don't care about noise but the cheap aio ocuk sell works well and is quiet enough.
