Morning all,

Am looking to buy a pc pre built from OCUK.
Budget is £800 or less.

PC will be used for online gaming, very little media storage etc.
Would like an SSD and decent GPU, not overly fussed about case as long as its A) big enough & B) decent airflow.

Many thanks in advance :)

Its alittle over by the time you add your extras you could easily get under 800 without the ssd

I am also interested in a system in this price range, will the one scotsdragon posted above be able max Skyrim for example with high res texture mods? I can go a bit higher, would it be a case of just sticking a bigger GPU in there?

(I'm so out of date with PC components its unreal).

Cheers!

I "can" build myself, used to do it quite often. It's been at least 6 years now though and I highly doubt they've made getting heatsinks on easier! In all honesty I think I'd rather take the easy way out and get it pre built, pre OC'd and with a warranty.

You'll need a 7950 to max out Skyrim at 1080p. And you'd want the 3GB memory if you plan to add lots of texture mods.

Go to the customer service and link them that machine and ask if it will fit a 7950 and if so how much would it cost but it will cost more.

IF you rwilling to build it your self heres one HONO built on another thread that costs just alittle over 1000 and would rock your game you could get it cheaper but taking out what you dont need e.g monitor and such.

Interesting you say no overclocking but want the i5K ;)

Overbudget but stay with me here......

GPU can be OC'd to close the gap on the 7970 and will handle anything thrown at it. 5 free quality games bundled with it makes it even sweeter (that offer expires on the 31st though). 24inch panel with 2ms response time makes it great for gaming :)

SSD makes for awesome boot times and helps load times for games installed to it. I left out the OS as you can use the windows 8 evaluation for free on a 3 month trial to see if it suits. If you need the OS then the SSD can be substituted for it ;)

Only thing I think I've really missed is speakers, I'd hope he had a pair of headphones lying around somewhere. Hope this helps.

Wow, thanks so much. Yeah I can take monitor & peripherals off and it's pretty much bang on my budget (although I do want a new monitor :D)!

Looks like i'll be getting my hands dirty.

edit: oof, free games. I''l have to order it tonight by the looks of things!

What PSU would be appropriate?

Also, basic question - what thermal paste? I'm rubbish at applying it. Yes i've watched the guides but still can't do it very well, promise im not usually this retarded.

Does the SSD come with a bracket for mounting it?

Cheers

For a single 7950 a decent quality 500W one is ok, for crossfire 7950 I'd go for 850W.

There's no cooler in that spec above. The cheaper ones tend to come with it pre-applied to the heatsink, the more expensive ones usually come with a small tube.

Not sure about the SSD. A lot of newer cases allow you to mount SSDs directly.

Have to be honest, one thing I've never done is OC. I wasn't planning on starting now either really, would the stock cooler be suitable? I am happy to put in additional case fans if necessary.

Overclocking a CPU these days is incredibly easy, and gives a huge boost. It'd be stupid not to OC a graphics card really :)

The stock cooler is ok for running non-OC, but it'll be noisy at load. If you definitely don't want to overclock, get the 4670 instead and get a £15-£20 cooler.

If you buy pre-built you won't get the free games, I think. Another reason to self-build :)

Scotsdragon's (or is that hono's?) build suggestion is good. If you think you might later crossfire the 7950, get a bigger power PSU.

One change I'd make is this:

Yes it is the almighty HONO'S build found it in another thread we both spoke on im still learning specing and that build to me for the money was awesome so im pluging it lol enjoy sakuri its a very nice system and free games rule!
