Hi,

It is time for an up grade and rebuild of my PC.

I am looking for almost a complete rebuild and the only items I will be utilising are the Tagen power supply 550 watt, Graphics card, a few 1TB HDD, and PC case.

Spec wise I am hoping to get 16GB of RAM, i7 CPU if I afford it a 4Ghz would be nice, SSD Samsung 500GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive is my fav choice.

As for MoBo I usually go for ASUS brand, though I am open to suggestions.

Budget, well I think I need to spend apx £250-£300 just on the CPU, the SSD Samsung at the moment is £149.99

I mainly use my PC for gaming and digital media manipulation.

Many thanks

T

Hi Tysonator,

You need to state what case it is, and also what the total budget is.

Hi,

the case is a Antec P182

Total buget apx £550 as the CPU is going to be the most expensive iitem.

I would also like to get Raijintek Triton AIO Water Cooling Solution for CPU
This would be outside the my spec buget, this is just a treat ! :D

as a side note, if the tagen PSU is as old as I suspect (i.e. core2quad era), there's no way in hell I'd trust it with my shiny new kit! (it also likely won't be compatible with the suspend modes that came in with Haswell)

I'm biased after a previous rubbish PSU throwing sparks all over my case though, so if you can tell us the model and age of the PSU someone may be able offer some reassurance!

The Tagen has modular cables and so far every thing in the original box fits my current kit.
So I hope the Tagen will still do the job !

I wouldn't worry about getting the Raijintek Triton, OCUK are now dealing with any issues that arise anyway plus it has a low return rate so nothing to worry about :)

if your going to go for the skylake build you might aswell got for x99 for an extra 40 quid

5280k with msi x99-sli

16gb 2400mhz ddr4

and the cooler you wanted

and for what you are doing the extra cores will do you well

the case is a Antec P182

I am glad I am not the only one still rocking a P182. The only thing I don't like about it now is no USB 3.0 on the case. I have a cable plugged in to the rear port on the mobo and have it secured up by my desk so I can plug my flash drive and external hdd's in to it.

Well the P182 is an old case now, even though I love it !
The Hard drive cage should really have access on the side, not rear loaded. The other issue I have it on the Antec web site there is no template to cut an apeture for CPU cooler mounting while the MoBo is secured in the case.

I think both isuues should be fixeable via some simple modding or after sale new design parts.
I guess Antec just want me to buy a new case

Yes that bottom HDD cage for me is a real pain as I have 4x 3.5" drives in there. I did a neat job of the power/sata cables and still managed to use the fan behind them without it fouling on any cables.

It would be nice to have access to put the CPU cooler bracket whilst the board is in the case, but then again I just fitted it before I put the mobo in the case, simples :D

I have used right angle SATA leads so I do not interrupt the Fan.
However it is very easy to get a cable to foul the fan. I think I have at least 3 HDD in that cage and 1 in the cage a level above.

For me the water cooling holes and the drive bays at the front were the deciding factors
