was going to be buying a new laptop until i realised the spec to money ratio is disgraceful on laptops (happy to be proved wrong on that)

basically i want a fast PC for a decent price. no more than 500 quid (£400 if poss but thats probably pushing it?) with monitor if possible.

i will be mainly using it for image editing, photoshop etc and of course browsing the net. not fussed on overclocking as im always worried it makes the pc to unstable. being able to upgrade in the future is important too.

For reference, about the best you'll likely get laptop wise is:

**** Vostro 1500

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.40 GHz, 3 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista® Business - English
15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800)
3072MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (1x1024 + 1x2048 MB)
Matte Jet Black with 2.0 mega pixel camera
250GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive
256MB nVidia® GeForce® 8600M GT
Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW Drive
Primary 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery (56 WHr)

£527.57

wow thats a pretty good deal. best spec ive seen really and at a much lower price than ive been seeing.

Get one of those custom build Compal laptops, dunno if they are available in the UK though. Anyway, I got one to and I love it :) Price is much better then the Dell / Sony / Acer's etc.
