¯\_(ツ)_/¯
First of all, I don't know what the best section for PDA's is on here - I know people talk about ipods in sound city.

Ok, I'm thinking about getting a PDA. Here's what I want it to do:

Route navigation, as I already have a bluetooth GPS thing.
Would be good if it uses SD cards as I have loads of 'em.
Does addresses, calender, etc
Handwriting recognition? (not sure is they still do this?)
What else could I use it for as I need to justify why I really need one? :o

Now, I don't wanna spend loads of money on it as if I get a pricey one I'll only end up losing or braking it. I'm a PDA n00b, so go easy with the jargon. ;)

My dad and my brother have both had one, and theyre the kind of thing that just dosnt get used.
The handwriting recognition never seems to work well enougth to not frustrate you, theyre desireable enougth to steal so have been, they just dosnt seem like a good investment to me... especially seeing as you can get phones that seem to do more.

...err, but thats just my opinion :p have no idea on what models are the lesser evils.

That's the thing - I can probably use my phone for contacts and calender, hell, even reading ebooks!

I can also work out some GPS nav for my car out of an old laptop, so I think getting one will probably be a waste of time really. :)

dell axim x51v

I have a Dell X51V, it is awesome and paired with a GPS it is just dandy.

I use mine a lot, it saves my ageing brain from missed meetings etc.

I would however consider a smartphone, as most of the newer larger ones can also do the GPS connectivity. Bear in mind then, the phone would probabyl need to be charged every evening, and when doing navigation, a power supply is essential.
