Spec me a phone that can broadcast wifi!

My Windows Phone (LG Optimus 7) can but only after flashing a German rom.

iPhone 4/4s on Three can certainly broadcast a wireless hotspot with no extra cost, and my girlfriend has the origional Galaxy S again on Three which broadcasts a hot spot at no extra cost with no problems.

Is this a free service?

It's the same data your provider charges for 3G/wap/whatever it is these days.

Phone is using software to put out the data available to other wi-fi choices. I could be wrong with all android's being able to.
When I had the HTC Sense on my phone it worked, I've only tried it once with CM7 and a market app and couldn't get it to work.

Anything android, if go with three you'll need to one plan as it can't be done with all out can eat data on other plans as I found out earlier.

it can on a capped 500MB T-MOBILE plan - lets you web browse as much as you want - have never been contacted by t-mob.

what will you be using it for - streaming vid/music or just web browsing?

Galaxy S2.

A word of warning, over the last 2 days, I used over 300MB of data using it as my primary internet source. This was just casual usage. So make sure you get a big plan.

"The One Plan" on Three has "All You Can Eat Data" (unlimited) and allows tethering.

Other plans on Three with "All You Can Eat Data" (unlimited) don't allow tethering.

So if you decide to go with Three for your network, make sure you choose "The One Plan", rather than another random one which includes "All You Can Eat Data" :).

Thanks for clearing up my awful posting, didn't read back before hitting post and auto correct seems to have got the better of me.

Well, I have to go with either T-mobile or orange, due to signal. I am already with orange so if possible, staying with orange would be beneficial when my contract ends wouldn't it?
Going with 3 isnt really an option. As to tethering on orange / t-mobile... Anybody know about what they charge (if any) for that?

I sound like a parrot in every thread like this so sorry to everyone in advance.

Yes the networks can tell you're tethering, it's extremely easy considering how many network engineers we have you are not going to fool them. I work for Orange, I assure you it's not rubbish, we just don't really charge for it as it's not so commonplace (yet) and the caps in place make it a small issue.

All prices will depend on your plan, engstrom, you can call 150 and they can talk you through it but if it's really small tethering amounts then I'd just use an android rom with it built in. Just don't go over your cap, it will be extremely costly if you do :(
