Spec me a powerhouse.

Hi All

We have just added a new large format printer to our collection and now need to really upgrade our ripserver.

At the moment its a P4 3ghz with 2gb of RAM. This is fine for running one machine. But now this machine will need to run 2 (the cost of an extra license for our rip software means that 2 machines isnt really cost effective).

We are looking for something that will rip images/files as quickly as possible and has to be dual CPU.

Budget is between 1-1.5k. Will stretch to 1.5 if the performance justifies it.

For driver/stability reasons I would prefer to steer clear of 64bit version of XP.

Your best off getting a conroe system, which you'll have to wait for 3-4 weeks for them to come out. I would wait further and gather user feedback through these forums, or ones like it, to help decide on whats the most stable pc rather than just pre-ordering one now.
