General use inkjet for text documents, sometimes images and maps, some degree of photo printing would be a bonus... £50-70 is my budget So was thinking the Canon ip3/4500.
Would Epson printers be an option, the newer models are pretty good and the ink is not that expesive, around 6-10 pounds per cart, plus if you any old printer (working or not) you can trade it in and get a discount on any printer.
I dont this a while ago and got a discount on the DX8400
Heres the link and you can find you local store to trade in if your interested.
If you can stretch to £100 then the bottom of the range colour lasers are much, much cheaper to run long-term, far quicker once the first page is out, and arguably better quality (except photographs). Depending on what you buy (Samsung CLP315) it could be 2 years before you need to put any cartridges in it, and when you do, it's almost cheaper to buy a new printer
And please don't be confused by the pagecount claims for an inkjet cartridge vs. a toner cartridge - the toner cartridges are sold to businesses who actually count the pages whereas I think the inkjet specifications are written by sci-fi novelists on their day off.
