hey guys, wondering if you can help me.....my nephew needs a printer for his school work, some photo printing and a copier (maybe all in 1??). His budget is £75, there are so many on the market but I need one that is reliable and cheap to run in terms of ink cartridges. Has anyone had any experience buying printers with this sort of budget?

Thanks ;-)

Won't go far wrong with the Canon Pixma range. If you want a multi-function one the Canon PIXMA MX320 should be ok. I have the MP 610.

Have a look at the Canon Pixma iP3600, you can get compatible ink chipped cartridges. I'm using the iP4300 a cracking printer with compatibles no problems at all, still prints like new and l have done a lot of printing over the two years l'v had it.

Another vote for the Canon Pixma range. My ip4000 has been brilliant right up to the point the head failed. A new head is more than the printer, and fully cleaning it has not worked.

The compatible cartridges were less than £1 each, so I've saved more than the cost of the printer in cartridge costs over the time I've had it!

I have an IP4000 and thought i had a faulty printer head (new ink cartridges, cleaning it manually and through the setup and no change) and even reinstalled the drivers. Still produced loads of lines and rubbish prints. This was on Vista HP 64 bit and it just went that way over time.
Got W7 Pro 64 bit and installed it and no problems now! Nothings changed apart from the OS and maybe drivers.....and come to think i nearly chucked it as well.
Sorry slightly OT but maybe "emailiscrap" has a similar issue as me...
