Hi im new to the site and was wondering if someone could spec me a good printer. Ive been using the Epson cx3200 for a couple of years but its too big and not very good. Are there any decent, smallish, cheapish all in one printers you could recommend. Thanks in advance :)

I would prefer an all in one for simplicity, but i do own a scanner so would consider a good single purpose printer. Would also like one with ink that doesnt cost the earth.

The cx3200 I had a bad problem with banding on images. as i print a lot of word docs with images it wasn't up to the job.

If I could get one that could print good photos too, that would be a bonus.

Have never had problems with Canon, never used any other brands. Try a Canon Pixma iP2600, cheap and cheerful printer. Its a little slow but good for day to day stuff.
Maybe the MP610/620 for multi-function.

The lexmark x560dn comes highly recommended, it's a bit pricey but it does have 20ppm colour printing and nearly 30ppm for b/w. Not forgetting hardware duplexing as well. Oh, and its a fax/scanner/photocopier as well.

Got a Canon MP210 a while ago and I'm amazed at how good it is for the price (£40 ).

All in one with decent performance and cartridge refill/reset available (which was one of things I wanted as OEM ink is so expensive) as well as a USB port on the front. I don't print
a lot of stuff so wanted a well reviewed all in one that was cheap.

If you need higher res on the scanner and slightly finer printing then the MP600 series also have excellent reviews, the 620 has built in WiFi for network printing and is ~£100.
