Hi, I need a printer.

I need one I can hook up to a computer so I can access it from all PC's in the house or possibly just stand alone and can send documents over a wireless network (not sure if this is possible).

It would require a scanner aswell. It needs to be decent quality not that bothered, most important however I need to be able to refill the cartidges/change them easily and cheaply and be widely available. Over the year's i've bought many printers only to find the cartridges cost more than the actual printer itself!

Thank you.

Ok you need to get a network attached printer. As for the ink thing find one that takes the (cant remember what its called. Someone will tell you) its extra bottles you put on the side with pipes coming off going into the printer head.

What will you be printing, documents, photos, do you need colour? At work we have a HP colour laser that prints very well and has built in ethernet (so you can connect it to your network).

At home I have a Brother HL 2070N monochrome laser (black&white) which also has built in ethernet which I am very pleased with. This model is quite old now though I think (I've had one over a year).

The newer version is the HL 2150N, or the 2170W which has wireless and wired networking built in. Both of these are monochrome printers though so they are good for lots of document printing but not very good at photo's (and obviously they would only be in black and white).

I will say though they have a small foot print and are quite small. A new toner for my model is £20 from one of my suppliers (£35 from brother's website though).

I have never had a printer with a built in scanner, nor used one so I wouldn't want to comment. I personal would rather have a seperate unit for each (I dont think you can get network scanners though). Obviously my opinion is going to be biased as I own a Brother, but its been going fine for over a year now.
