Spec me a processor upgrade !

Now that the FX chips are out. im looking for the best processor for pure overclocking / gaming !!

or should i just stick with my processor and clock it up some more ??

Best amd chip for pure overclocking /gaming still remains the Phenom II 955 or a hexcore 1090T

Definitely, i've had 4.5Ghz out of my 955, under water granted, and not even on a crosshair mobo

I ran my chip solid 24/7 at 4.3Ghz for ages

That's crazy. i might have to downgrade then . I wanna get something over 4ghz as i feel my processor is bottlenecking my gpus atm :<

955's can be found 2nd hand for around 50-60 although with bulldozer tanked, people might not be selling them for that little, or at all

Is there a reason the 955 is better than a 965 ? lower voltages or something ?

tbh i'm not really sure, when the 965 came out it just looked the same as the 955 with a 100Mhz bump in clock speed, voltages are roughly the same, my 955 will do 3.8Ghz at stock volts all day, 4Ghz needs a tiny bump to say 1.425.

ahh well ill have ago at bumping mine up. see how it goes, and wait for a substantial upgrade. Cheers for answering my questions ^^
