Have been thinking about getting one for a while as I love my TV but itching for something larger for evening film viewing. Popped into the Sound and Vision show in Bristol yesterday and watched a couple of 5 minute clips on the Optoma HD30 and was quite impressed and they are offering it for £1000 which I could go back and grab tomorrow. But I haven't been able to look at any other budget models as everything else being demoed was £3000+
I've set my budget as a max of £1000 for the projector which gives the choice from Optoma, Epson and BenQ (that I know of). The Optoma HD25e also looks interesting as, from what I read deals with ambient light better. It's mainly for 2D viewing of Blu Rays and I will certainly be gaming on it. 3D is a bonus but I know that like my TV I will use it for a while and then forget about it.
My room layout should allow for up to 100" screen, I will have to check my maths and the throw. I don't have blackout blinds but in the evening there is little ambient light but I would like to keep a single lamp on rather than pitch black.
