Spec me a PSU (if you would be so kind)

Hi guys

Im in the middle of getting everything together for a new rig and would like a bit of advice regarding the PSU. Currently I have an OCZ StealthXStream 500w chugging away which I will be reusing in my new rig until I can afford a decent replacement.

Specs are:

Intel i5 3570k
Z77-UD5H motherboard
16GB Patriot Viper Black Mamba 1600Mhz
Corsair H60 cooler
4xCase fans
Samsung 840 256GB SSD
2TB WD Mech HDD

I will be adding a Nvidea 660Ti in the near future (after PSU) with the hope of adding another one further down the line for SLI.

Would a decent 650w be underpowered or should I be looking around the 750-800w mark? I cant see myself upgrading any further in the next few years at least so this potential PSU doesnt really need to be future proof. Lower price would be nice though

500W is ample for a single GPU setup.

Might I suggest you look at the 7950 instead. It has more VRAM and currently has a nice free games bundle. Nvidias CUDA is losing it's advantage, unless you are really bothered about the PhysX support. I would get the GPU whilst the games offer is going then upgrade the PSU for Xfire. 750W is enough as the guys are saying, modular really is helpful for cable management and does improve airflow (temps)....seeing as you want to dual card then airflow is important.

What case do you have out of interest? Looks like it will be a very tidy piece of kit

Its definitely something to think about but i've only ever used AMD cards in the past and my last two proved to be a massive pain. Just fancied a change to see what Nvidea was all about. PhysX means nothing to me, so I assume I'll have no use for it

Case actually arrived a few hours ago, its a Corsair 300R and must say for the quite meagre price its a very impressive bit of kit, quality and cable management options are fantastic. Just need a couple of 140mm fans to stick on the top
