Spec me a PSU please.

Looking for a PSU that will be fully modular, silent under load, and able to run the rig in my sig with some decent head room.

I currently have a Corsair HX850 but when I'm gaming it's the only noise I hear and it's quite loud. I've spent a fortune on water cooling and now this PSU is doing my head in. :mad:

By the way, I might add a 3rd GTX980 in future if DX12 stacks vRAM, hence the request for head room.

EVGA one has a bad review regarding noise, are you talking about this Superflower? Also, will 1000w be enough headroom for 3*980 and a 4790k OC'd? Just double checking...

I replaced an hx 850 in the system in sig for a 1000w superflower leadex platinum. Very quiet unit.

You mean this one? Platinum to Gold worth the extra £35 would you think? I'm not bothered about efficiency I just want it as quiet as possible.

Gold rated one should be fine tbh. I purchased mine on members market so was able to make a bit of a saving over new.

Enermax unit is solid and the price is insane. SuperFlower make some of the best units around though. Either way you are covered!

I'm struggling to decide. I might hang off for a "this week only" on one of the SuperFlower 1200w units, just for that extra bit of headroom and future proofing.

I've finally pulled the trigger on the white 1200w Superflower that's on this week only for £174.

I'll post back with thoughts on performance in a while.

Thoughts are, I am very happy with it!

I wanted silence, and I got it. A 4790k and 2 G1 980s, overclocked and running full pelt... This PSU utters not a peep.
