Spec me a PSU

Nope, not at all. The GTS and E6600 are rather light on power consumption. I recommend the HX 520 to people with overclocked Q6600s and 8800 GTXes and it does a cracking job. :)

^^ Are you sure mate, I created another thread asking the same question. It would be much cheaper for me.

Yes. It does depend on what other things you have in your system, but an average OC'd system (one or two HDD, one or two ODD, one GPU, and a mild overclock) would do just fine.

May I suggest the Gigabyte Odin Gt 800W can be found for £105, has copper heatsinks in psu, temperature monitoring as well as monitoring of the rails and load on the PSU. Also has temperature probes and one speed control fan point. Also has the new 8 pin pci express power connector.

Has recieved some great reviews, see Bit-techs front page, also found some more using google.

Only £10-20 more than the corsair, but should last you at least another upgrade as well.

power consumption is on the downward trend next cards =less power next cpu=less power get the hx 520.
A 3.6 ghz quad 8800 gtx ultra 2 hdd fans dvd etc etc will rarely go over 400 watts on full load idles around 230 watts if you don't believe me check out reports from people with power meters.

Yea, it's really one SATA HDD, 1x DVD RW, 2x 120mm fans and maybe 1x80mm, that's for the case. Along with the Q6600 and the GTX.

I used a PSU calculator and it showed me that I need 600w, at least.

Oh and no overclocking.

Also, what you guys think of the Thermaltake 750w

I am really sorry OP for hijacking.

What PSU calculator did you use? The one I see used most often is this: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
I just plugged in your proposed rig and it said 305 W.

I'll tell you the options I used:
Single Processor
Regular Desktop Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
2 Sticks DDR2 SDRAM
nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX
SATA: 1 HDD
DVD-RW/DVD+RW Drive: 1 Drive
120mm: 2 Fans
80mm: 1 Fans

Reccomended Wattage: 305 W

Hehe, that's wierd, I got the 540 for the same thing. Anyway, will probably go with the 520w. Will think about it!

OHHHHHHHHHHH, you used a single CPU.

Ok, now that was stupid. I got same as you, thanx man.

Ah yes, a common mistake. If you put quad CPU then specify a Q6600 it thinks you have four quad core processors. While that would be awesome it's not what you actually have. :D

Just like to add, i made a thread about which future proof PSU to buy and the majority told me to go for the Corsair HX 520 as well :)
