right here goes..... my PSU has exploded and unlike i had hoped there was no fireworks just a pop and bugger all else, so this is the perfect chance for me to upgrade.

PSU neds to run 2 x 4870, 4giggles of ddr2 1066ram, phenom 9850 black edition and 2 sata drives.....

I was looking at the gigabyte 800watter or the zalman 850watter but any other suggestions would be apreciated!.

Well I'm not sure how much power the new Ati cards draw but I can imagine the machine will pull in around 600W at load. There are a lot of good brands out there including Enermax, Seasonic (OCZ HX units are made by them too), PC Power and Cooling and quite a few of them are really as good as each other. I can't see any problems with any of the ones you picked but you may want to go for a more established brand.

just bin reading about the 4870x2..... so will need a psu that can deal with moisture as i gots all wet!

might splash out for a 1kw psu but the prob still remains which brand/one etc

you dont really need 1kw tbh i think its overkill..
Seasonic M12 Modular 700W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply is a good supply (bonjour has it linked)

You're best off working out how much your PC pulls at load, and then adding about 300w on to that, to factor in room for upgrades in the future. Additionally, the less stress the PSU is under, the more efficient it will be.

I'd go with something in the 800w range.

any Enermax, Seasonic, PCP&C around 700-800W will do the job reliably
a Gigabyte ODIN GT might be considered if you want to control aspects of your PSU from software, if your interested in this ability of course.
