Spec me a PSU!

Got my new Dell 24" TFT today, and wanted to try it so plugged in my computer and bang wen the PSU.

The light is still on the PSU but no life.

Picking up my temporary 480watt PSU tomorrow.

I've already had this PSU as a replacement from the manufacturer and did i mention it's a Hiper

So i now need a new PSU to power -

Opteron 146 @ 3ghz
DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR
2Gb Ram
3 x Hdd's
2 x DVD-RW's
7800GT OC
Asus Xonar D2X

Soon to be -

Quad core Intel CPU
DFI Matx Motherboard
8gb DDR2
1 hard drive
2 DVD-RW's
4870X2 possibly
Asus Xonar D2X

Don't want to spend the earth.

expect to be spending £100+ on a psu if you want to power those cards!

you know what, i sware your first post said two 4870x2's lol. even with a single 4870x2 though, your still looking at around £100 for a decent psu. for a lesser card anything from 450+ upwards from a decent manufacturer will be enough, such as the corsairs, enermax, coolmaster ect.

unfortunately its the wrong time to buy psu's, the prices have been hit hard by all this exchange rate and credit crunch hulabulu - the hx620 corsair is now about £35 MORE than it was when i bought mine two years ago.

But it's going to be Matx so it shouldn't need mass amounts of power will it?

only 1 hard drive and 2 dvd-rw's as well.

Yeah that's what i heard as well.
I'm thinking about building another 1 beginning of the year with i7 and might get dark power.
At the moment using TX650 and it is fantastic PSU but want to try different brand next

oh and i have the 650W version, best choice of hardware i have every bought
