I've had a bit of a 'mare 2nd hand PSU i bought as an 'upgrade' for a Oryxx Titan. turned out to be faulty and fails under Prime testing at stock CPU speeds. I'm going to part with some hard earned money but don't really know that much about PSU's. I didn't realise how important they are untill they go wrong!:(

It must be able to power the rig in my sig and ideally future proof me against another 4850 x2 or CPU upgrade when the time comes. I've got £100 to spend but if i can spend less then great :D

EDIT: Oh, and modular would be good as i dont have much room in my case

Hey rizzee, thanks for the reply. Would 600w be fine for what I have?. As i said above i'm a bit nieve when it comes to PSU's but i'd have thought a overclokced quad core and a 4850x2 might be pushing 600w?

You can't do better than that Corsair HX 750w, other than the 850w version.

Only go for the BeQuiet if you can't fit the corsair in your case, as it's over priced for what it is.

I'm surprised you haven't started a thread about it! :p

You're the anti-BeQuiet! brigade. ;)

Nope, they are fine PSUs, but atm cost too much, if they come down £10-30 depending version, I'd recommend them.

Just seems people are recommending them without considering all the other options.

IF someone has a small case I'd also recommended them, as they are smaller than a lot of ther PSUs in the 750w+ range.

But when you can get a PSU that's just as good for less, or a better PSU for the same price, you'd be silly to tell someone to buy one. :D

Listan BeQuiet are expensive because the Euro is high(though it's getting weaker so there is hope) because it's a German company.

The oryxx made a squeeling noise when under load which I thought was a bad sign so I bought a thermaltake toughpower from a mate who needed the cash. Now my rig won't even run p95 @ stock speeds without restarting. Not disasterious I know but damn anoying none the less. I bought cheap before with the oryxx and tried to do it again with the toughpower and now I'm left with an unstable and (almost) unusable paperweight! LOL! Lesson learnt I reckon
