Hi OCUK

Firstly sorry if there is a sub-forum/thread for these questions.

I have just started a new job that requires commuting into London by train, the station is a 25 minute walk away and I'd rather spend that in bed so I have decided I want to ride to the station which should take about 5 minutes, give or take (all down hill)

Having no idea about bikes, I have set an initial budget of £200, which I want to include a decent bike lock and cover (I'll worry about lights come winter)

Can you recommend a decent, lightweight bike with a smart look, I don't fancy those fold up bikes that look like you need the legs of a body builder to get moving.

Thanks in advance :)

I like the look of the Carrera so far, its more slender which suits me better.

Thanks as always, forgot to mention I am 5ft 8" so would a 16" - 18" frame suffice?

Yeah that is a good point, although I live in a good area and the bike shed at the station has room for about 30 bikes (all in those fancy upright galvanized metal enclosures) My job involves a lot of walking/tubing around London so a fold up wont do for that reason.

But as per your suggestions, I'll keep an eye in the free ad's, fleabay and bumtree, I'll also have a look around a bike shop this weekend to get a feel for what I like, again its just to potter to the station and maybe a cycle around the area when I am bored :)
