Spec me a quiet 500w-550w modular psu

Hi, as title says I'm after a quiet PSU to power an i5 6500 and a gtx 970.

Will be in a p183/mini p180 case.

My last PSU was a be quiet unit, are these still a good quality, quiet brand or are there better options?

No budget or length limit, but must be modular.

EVGA GS550w .

Has the eco fan mode so run silent under a certain temp.

Agree with Stulid. The EVGA Supernova GS 550w is a Seasonic built unit with 540w on the 12v rail, it's also gold rated, fully modular and has a 5 year warranty.

Ive seen specific "short cable packs" for small cases from one manufacturer but I cant at the moment remember which one.

If you want quiet, get something that is higher rated for what you want, along with it being gold or platinum rated.

Gold/Platinum means better efficiency, which means less heat lost, which means less 'fan on' time.

Be tempted by this...

The EVGA G2 650W is only an extra £10 and is in stock. You get an extra 2 years warranty (7 years) as well.

EVGA G2 650W would be a better option. It has hybrid fan mode and it is much cheaper.

EVGA G2 650w for the reasons stated above. It's a cracking psu built by Superflower and has 649w on a single 12v rail. Review here.

Spending £170 on one of Seasonics over priced psu's is madness when you can get a perfectly good alternative that is £93 cheaper.

The OP stated that price is not an issue, and that it is quiet he is after... So naturally I'm focusing on that, not bang for buck.
