Spec me a quiet case!

As I mainly use my PC for work now, I'm done with the cathodes and window side panels, i want something "boring" / professional and quiet.

At the moment I have an i7 920, 6gb ram, ATI 4890 card housed in a Silverstone Fortress. Using the original case fans and a titan fenrir cpu cooler, its pretty loud. Especially as I used to have a very quiet Antec solo case.

What do you suggest?

I like the look of some of the Lian Li's but I dont know what they are like acoustic wise?

I'm almost considering getting the same case I used to have, but long-term they have issues with the power button wearing out.

Antec sonata III

if you're looking for a quiet, understated, "mature" case it's hard to beat.

Some door equipped/direct noise escape path blocked Lian Lis are among the most silencing friendly cases by their design.
Of course realizing full potential can need mass damping in others than Antec P-serie cases and swapping out stock fans covers also Antecs.

And in open leaky case lowering fan speed needs big speed decrease.
(it takes only one relatively small hole to make whole panel open for all noise)

Akasa do a range of 18cm "Ultraquiet" case fans.

Don't know if they're any good, but they're only about £6

talking of "ultraquiet" has anyone ever seen a fan that's marketed as "******* loud but it shifts air and hey it's cheap" as there are a fair few that would fit into this category

Oooooh thanks, this could be just what im looking for, i broke the door on my old Antec Sonata v1 and the leds on my Icy Dock light up my room at night and get right on my ****

Hmm, pity the hdd bays don't face outwards, something i really like about the Sonata.

so would a fractal design case be just as good as this antec case ? for silence ?

Fractal Design is also acoustically good design.
Just two 5.25" bays and no space behind door for anyking fan controller knobs might be troublesome.

hmm the Fractal design ones do look good.

Not sure on the P183 and the Sonata III's power button is inside the door which will be annoying.

sorry mate i just bought the last one, but before they got these in stock i am sure they where getting a few of these in on the 20th jan all 3 colours.
