Spec. me a quiet CPU cooler

Mine is fine and quieter than any other CPU air cooler i have had, its my personnel preference and i have had better experience the the hybrids. I agree lots of air coolers are the same and better.

You can claim it is queter than what you have used.
But your original state is what I took issue with .. I'm saying CLCs are not as quiet as air coolers costing half as much .. and cool no better at same noise levels.

This has been prove time and again in testing and use.

I have tested several CLCs .. and tried to use CLCs .. and removed them because they were louder than decent air coolers at similar temperatures.

Like I said, data from many many tests have shown this to be true.

So far the only exception I've used is be quiet! Silent Loop 280. But it is not even a CLC. It is a AIO with a nice copper radiatorversus the cheap dense finned aluminum on Corsiar CLCs .. and a much better pump then Corsair use too .. and it also has a fill plug, removable hose fittings on both pump and radiator.

Because you said

And the true is they are not.

You can use one and you can think it's quiet. That is your right.

Why is it you post up an untrue statement, and when told it is not true you keep posting trying to cover it up with all kinds of excuses? Why don't you just admit it is not as quiet as a decent air cooler?

Doyll>How did you find the Be quiet 280? I would be interested to know to see if that an alternative to the EK I had. If you could compare it to the dh15 then I have a reference point.

I think you would be happy with it.
It is the only AIO I've tested that I will continue to use. I consider it an AIO, not CLC because it has a fill plug and components / hoses can be changed. I don't think pump is powerful enough to expand system with GPU block, but is plenty powerful enough as is. I need to try higher performance fans on it to see what temps do. My guess is they will drop considerably, but at the expense of more noise. As it is be quiet!, quiet is key word here. :p be quiet!'s focus is on very quiet operation with super low temps taking back seat. It is not uncommon for their coolers to be 1-2c warmer than others, but they are quieter. Better looking too! ;)

It cools similar to D15 at similar noise levels under normal loads.

The above is with D15S .. temps will be 2-3c lower with 2nd fan & a couble dB louder.

I had TRUE Spirit 140 rev.A on before Silent Loop, also R1 Universl w/TY-147A fans and PH-TC14PE w/ new PH-F140HP_II fans on before that in this series of tests. I always run testing and use system for several weeks for a good 'real world use' feel of product. All performed similar. TRUE Spirit 140 rev.A is surprising good for it's size. ;) I did not use D15 because it blocks my PCIe socket, but R1 and PH-TC14PE have same performance as D15 .. at most 2c difference, and that is because D15 has 2-300rpm faster fans. Same performance at same rpm. :p

I have other coolers I need to test, but like Silent Loop 280 so well I don't want to change take it off just yet.

What EK did you have?

Hi Doyll thank you for insight. I was using EK predator 360. If you say the bequiet 280 cools as well DH15 while freeing up the pci-e slot, (Gimme back my slots Noctua!) and reminaing as quiet as the DH15 that's good to hear.

Do they do a 360 version as I am looking for more cooling comparable to the ek predator 360.

280 is the biggest so far.

NH-D15S has offset base and IIRC is 67mm center CPU toward PCIe sockets. It has same fin packs, but heatpipes are shaped different so base if off center.

What do people generally recommend for £30 or less? Same chip, will be OCd but favour low noise and cooling power fairly equaly? Not the end of the world if its too warm to get that extra 100mhz Thanks

Thanks, I think tge cooler master is looking best, not too huge and low minimum fan speed as my pc is sat next to my bed, so good when watching films :)
