Spec me a quiet graphics card..

Going to get the Samsung 226BW and was looking at the 8800GTS 320Meg. However, I want it to be as quiet as possible.

Any ideas?

the 8800 with the stock coolers are very quiet i have found. you can get that, and if it really bothers you (shouldnt do) you can buy a passive aftermarket cooler for it. i forget what it is called. its very good though, and it will be silent.

but like i said the 8800 stock cooling solution is very good

320MB-GTS is pretty silent and it'll handle 1680x1050 (ya sams native) with ease in most games today.

Do you think the 320Meg version of the card wil be enough for the 226 22" monitor? I also had thoughts of getting a Dell2407 in a few months. I am not an hardcore gamer, though play Flight Sim now and then.

Is the 640Meg of the card equally silent?

at that res some people would say the 320mb is perfectly fine, and some would say go for the 640mb.

i personally have a 640mb on a 22", and its perfect really, but as i havent had the 320mb, i cant really give a proper comparison. i dont think it makes a massive difference, whereas 1900x1200 is when it does on newer titles

and the 640mb is very quiet

as I said the 320mb will be fine on the Samsungs native res which is 1680x1050, but if you are stepping up to a 24" which is a new hop in resolution I'd push for a 640mb, basically for future proofing.
