Spec me a race bike.

For £1500 I'd get a Canyon Ultimate AL 8.0 or 9.0. Full Ultegra or Athena, Ritchey finishing kit, Conti GP4000s tyres and Ksyrium Elite wheels. Hard to beat for the price except in end of season sales perhaps.

Depends what is important to you though and whether you must have carbon. The Willier looks nice but you are paying for the frame mainly as the rest of the spec is what you'd find on cheaper bike. Of course you can always upgrade the Willier's components in the future.

I would say the Izoard comes up heavy compared to most other carbon bikes, the Triestina alloy model with R500 wheels feels about the same weight!

It's not built as a flat out racer though with comfort being it's selling point.

Have a look at the Felt F5 which should be doable for the same sort of money, maybe less, as they can be discounted whereas the Wilier won't be if it's a newer model year.

It's maybe not as in your face as the Wilier but the addition of BB30 bottom bracket, tapered steerer tube and the full carbon fork(the wilier has an alloy steerer/crown) will make it feel a lot more alive if you ride it as intended.

Do you mean a "race bike" as in a bike you are going to be racing on? Or just a bike for riding on the road?

I'd choose the canyon that shamrock suggested for racing on. For just general riding around, you could get something more comfortable, like a Ribble sportive.

Sorry will be on the road, they still called race bikes or something different?

Will look at the other bikes, may pop down to wheelbase and look around.

There's so much to look at with so many bits, I dont want to get too carried away just looking for the best package/price combo.
