Spec me a racing wheel!

Good old Rfactor is still a great game even though its so old it farts dust!
A few of us have a race every now and then, some of the mods are great fun. Now I am part of the Project Cars gang, still lots of work to do as the game isn't at alpha stage yet but its going to be awesome, just a couple of gripes, getting Steam involved and the game marginally getting consolised (is that a word?)
Anyway I have the G27, had one for around 2 yrs and the brake pedal became faulty, within 9 days I had a new G27 which I have now and it works flawlessly, Logitech customer support is one of the best around.

Been looking up on Project Cars, looks amazing. How do all the memberships work if I wanted to play it now? Thats why I might just get the Logitech G27, simple to get, everything included and great customer service.

It was open to buy into a few months ago now, junior member, member, etc and you paid from around 10€ up to a few grand for different kinds of membership, but now its unavailable to get unless you can use a friends account. It may come back online at some point but as far as I know they have the funds to develop the game, shame they involved steam, but whatever
:)

Yeah it's a little annoying considering I only found out about it like a week ago? Otherwise I'd of been in when it was available.

I'm using a Fanatec CSR and Clubsport v2 pedals. Can't really fault them. Had the CSR for nearly two years without issue.

Their stuff is pricey though. They used to do some good wheel/pedals/shifter bundles but just checked their site and nothing right now.

Pretty annoyed I missed out on the membership. Think i'm gonna go for the Thrustmaster aswell, never heard a bad thing about them and coming from previous people who have owned the likes of a G27 they say its worth the upgrade/extra money.

Cool let us know how it is :)

You can you the 3months three at anytime, so wait untill you pick your wheel.

There is no upfront cost with Iracing, as in you don't purchase the game. The base subscription comes with a bundle of cars and tracks. I've been playing for about 3 months so far and have not had to buy any new tracks as yet, as it takes a while to learn/master each car track anyway.

They still do bundles and you can get a wheel, shifter and pedals for 249 euros but delivery is another 35. http://eu.fanatec.com/index.php?route=module/configurator

Completely missed that. I got my CSR wheel and CSR pedals as part of a bundle nearly two years ago and the price was quite reasonable.

Decided to upgrade the pedals to Clubsports a few months back. Wanted some of the load cell brake goodness. Expensive but worth it.

I checked out a bundle with the CSR Wheel, Shifter, CSR Elite pedals and stand, and it would come to about 480 (current conversion rate) with shipping.

I was going to go Fanatec but it soon gets expensive fast. I have now decided to get a Thrustmaster T500 RS as I get free deilvery from OCUK anyway. I have to wait till next Friday before I can order though as that's when my credit card limit gets increased :(

Thrustmaster t500 RS with Pedals & Shifter - £440

Fanatec CSR value pack with Wheel, Pedals & Shifter - £300

Logitech G27 with Wheel, Pedals & Shifter - £265

Thrustmaster is pretty expensive, but I can see myself still upgrading to it in the future so decided to just save more to go straight for it.

I feel the same way but I'm not going to go for the shifter straight away. I have decided to say "sod it" and order tonight, I will report back when I get it. The GT Omega Stand is not back in stock till mid December though which may make be a bit awkward to use for a while as I don't really have a suitable surface.

I'm very interested to hear of people impressions of the Thrustmaster... anyone here had the chance to try all of these wheels? G27/CSR/TM

Not me personally but spoke to a guy who has and said the Thrustmaster is the best, a lot more easier to control, a lot smoother and a worth the upgrade. But he did say for PC games only get TM. For console/PC G27/Fanatec

The Thrustmaster is very, very powerful, yet subtle. I don't really like the paddles being stuck to the base though. Pedals are probably the best you gonna get from potentiometers. The CSR Elite pedals are on another level though. The load cell brakes, and the clutch feel amazing.

The GT3 has more natural friction. It's less powerful but feels smooth. Much better than the Logitechs anyways, IMO, which feel more mechanical since they are gear driven. The build quality isn't a match for the Thrustmaster / Fanatec, although the G27 feels all right. The G25 is a step down, but that's also down a lot to budget.
