Hiya folks,

Ok so i've finally sorted my server issues. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18391544

So all back up and running all data saved onto another system. So going to do a clean install.

Currently win7 ultimate

The MB only has 4 sata.(DVD using 1 of them) And I'm trying to maximise storage but more importantly backup safety. At the moment I'm backing up just shy of 500gb of business data but may also move my media onto the server.

So my options are
drive 1 os
drive 2+3 Raid 1
or
drive 1,2+3 raid 5?

Or buy a SATA controller and add more drives.

On a side note. Am I wasting a win7 license can I do all I want with windows server

Any ideas

Cheers in advance
Matt

Yeah using homegroup.

I work in my office upstairs during the day and downstairs on the Laptop at night so needed a central point to store the info. Using win7 seemed natural.

I have an old pc with xp that I use with my piano but its slooow so was going to use some left over bits to upgrade and poss use my win7 ultimate on it if its wasted on my little server.

Its cheaper to buy windows home server than buy another win7 license

Whats the pro's and cons of using windows to RAID or on-board
