Spec me a Reasonable Downgrade!

ok folks don't really need my conroe rig anymore as at the minute i'm really busy with my 1.6 team preparing for many lan tournaments and all i'm using it for is 1.6, web browsing, msn and downloading cs movies + music!

so what would be a sensible downgrade, should i sell cpu-ram-mobo and just get a high end 939 setup or should i just keep my ram and just sell cpu+mobo and get a am2 setup? i would ideally like it to be fairly nippy in windows still, and if possible don't really want to sell my gfx card as it wouldn't be worth it!

i dont think it would be worth selling any of it tbh? you will very probably take a loss and end up with something slower. No point at all

how can selling my c2d setup and downgrading to a 939 amd setup give me a loss in terms of money? the performance difference isn't overly a problem as i have stated the only thing i use my comp for are - cs 1.6/web browsing/msn/music + video downloads i'm sure a 939 or am2 setup would cope with this fairly well?

But there is no point to downgrading, do you actually need the money? If not, don't bother, to be honest the computer you have atm will last you far longer than a 939 system, whats the point in downgrading then having to upgrade again when 939 can't hack it anymore.

I'd keep it. You'll only be losing money, and your system will be fine for many years to come if you decide you want to play new games etc.
