according to some dvla site thing I looked at its 245gm so it will fall into the new super duper £300 spank the motorist bracket.

Only models registered after 1st March 2006 will fall into that bracket.

A 2002-2006 ST220 will cost the same to tax as my 530i - £205 a year.

so there were different bands previously?? its not hard to see why people get confused is it..

All cars registered after 1st March 2001 are taxed on emissions and not engine size. However, the top band of emissions taxation, the £300 one, applies only to cars registered after April 2006. The rest of the bands remain the same.

which shape mondeo was it you had?

I had an ST24 about 5 years ago and loved it, never put a foot wrong tbh. Is the service interval on the ST220 as ridiculously low as it is on the focus ST? (12k)... I guess a 30-50k example has to have a lot of life left in it before you'd expect any serious mechanical issues??

Mk2 - same as your ST24. Mine was a 2 litre.

Don't know off hand what the service intervals are on the ST220 but there are no MAJOR issues to be aware of.
