Hi all

I had a EK multioption X2 150 advanced res, which cracked badly but they looked like huge stress cracks and as first time watercooling assumed I had done the ends up too tight. Anyway bought another one which I did up just tight enough not to leak but come back from a week away and I have two small cracks in the res again

Things have changed in the case but my loop is still same as in this pic http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/2475/dsc0671a.jpg

I have looked around at some resevoirs but as only used two ek's I don't know other products so looking for some recomendations.

Thanks in advance.

It is indeed a D5, will give that res a look though I don't know if I have enough room in the bottom of my case for it. Something iffy seems to be going on but I don't kno what as this res has only lasted 2 months.

Never been a fan of the D5 Tank res. Its a nightmare to bleed for some reason, in my experience anyway.

Might be worth looking at the Alphacool Cape Cool reservoirs. Same shape as the EK multis but much better quality, less prone to leaking too.

Although the stress cracks seem to imply that you might be doing them uo too tight.

A T line? Stress fractures are unlikely, and it'll be much smaller. Cheaper too. Does it matter that much whether the loop bleeds in fifteen minutes or overnight?

I don't know if it is stress fractures but the first one had 3 or 4 big cracks in. This time though its only a small crack about the height of the bottom thread. I pressumed I was doing it up too tight thats why took a lot more care on this one but any looser and it would have leaked anyway. The only two things I can think it could be are, the clips holding the res in are too tight causing similar cracks as if the ends were done up too tight or maybe being so close to my ram its causing localised heating of the res. Though I think both are unlikely.

Thanks mike gunnz will have to look up those resevoirs. Never had any trouble bleeding y d5.

@Jon: Are you talking about using a t line as a res? tbh the time it takes to bleed isnt a concern to me. It's a possibility, will plan it iut when I get home from work.

I would be amazed if your RAM was able to get hot enough to cause your Res to warm to such an extent that it would cause any type of failure. Could it be something you are adding to the fluid that is causing the acrylic to fail?

I seriously doubt it also but cant think of anythin obvious causing the cracking. Forgot to add, first time round i had PT Nuke in my loop but since the no rma notice fron EK when I changed res I flushed my loop and ran with just water.

a lot of people reported no problems using PT nuke in EK Resevoir but the first time I used what they said. Can't remember how much it is off the top of my head, think its something like 1 or 2 drops per litre or water.
