Hey,

Well I am going to build a new rig for my cousin, and I have about £750 to spend on the best rig possible (excluding a TFT).

The PC will be mainly used for gaming (My cousin currently uses a 20" screen, so maybe a 8800GTX?) and browsing the web. Water cooling would also be nice etc.

I have a few spec ideas, but would prefer some more suggestions :)

I'm about to head to bed, and so cannot give you a spec, but here's a few pieces of advice.

With watercooling in that budget, you'll either have to limit the amount you spend components, or have a poor watercooling setup. It would be more sensible to buy a decent air cooler.

You may want to look into waiting for next-gen cards with DX10.1 support before buying a high-end card, i.e. buy an X1950Pro or similar now, and a G90/G92 later on.

I agree with Ben about WC setups. If you wanted a decent custom kit it could easily reach 200 quid, meaning that you wouldn't have enough left for a nice GTX and a decent processor on top of that.

Get yourself a nice Tuniq Tower or whatever, and then if you decide to go watercooling later on then go for it.

Yeh I have an OS,

At the moment I am thinking of,

Abit QuadGT *nothing to special*
2GB OCZ PC2-6400
Quad Q6600
X1950Pro *Will wait till the G92 is released*
Akasa Eclipse 62
Tuniq Tower
1x 160GB *Which i already have*

What are your thoughts?

-Matt.

PS, Thanks for the suggestions so far.

oh i see thought you wanted a rig that would last a good while
the 1950 pro is going to struggle with latter games this year and next year
+ those quads are overkill unless you do encoding and so on.
For me the most important thing is graphics card
Defo get the crucial ballistix 5300 though can do 1000 mhz

Well really, I need a rig which will last but if there can be money spared, but still have good parts when that's excatly what I am after!

I only plan on using that graphics card until the next gen ones are out, I think I might change my mine to the E6850?

Link doesn't work mate

EDIT: Does now..

Good little choice there, but I would defo upgrade the CPU to a E6420 minimum.

cpu clocked up to 3 ghz will do and be fast so spend the rest of the money on outher things
