Hey,

I would really appreciate it if someone would be able to spec up a nice rig. Its for a mate and i would like to spec one up but its been a long time since i built my last one and im a bit out of touch with the latest hardware.

He is looking to spend around £800, Decent gaming rig hopefully. Wont need keyboard, mouse or tower, got all that sorted.

this will kick ass and play games with ease and be ready for dx10:D

what is his case out of interest, because it will need good air flow/fans

I aint to sure what case he chose but it was from a shop, He hasnt bought it yet, but will make sure to stress to him about air flow, If you have any ideas on a decent case for him that would be cool. Were it sits he will only see the front. He keeps saying he doesnt want a plain case, something with a bit of eye candy at the front. He likes the look of the Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming case.

i would go for something like the lian pc-60

not keen on the antec 900 as its got so many holes in it it would be full of dust in no time

ive got an antec p160 looks ok good airflow not sure if you can still get them though also i like the p180

edit: that pc superstore you mentioned should be avoided at all costs!!!!!

I've got a P180, had it for nearly 6months now and it's an absolute gem. Nice air flow, plenty of ventilation, and oodles of space.

Also, yes, avoid that superstore like the plague. I work for them (sort of) and I advise people not to go to them ^^

I would edit the store name if I were you. ;)

The only case that is worth buying from the purple evil place is perhaps the Jeantech Phong 2, not the best case but gets good review in Custom PC.

Been a slight delay in the order process. But the guy wants to order his rig this week, hopefully tomorrow. Not sure if any new hardware has came out or any price drops etc.
Any updates on the hardware i should put in the rig before i order it or do those specs look like they will do the job.

Get the BFG 8800GTS 320Mb for only 200 quid.

The Geil 2Gb is a lot cheaper now, and also you can get the OCZ 2Gb Platinum XTC for the same price.

Also instead of E6300 you can now get E4300 for a bit less, slightly slower but easier to overclock.

a lot of the boards i see for the conroes say Crossfire support, does this mean it will not support SLi if i was to put 2 nvidias in it. If it didnt support SLi would a crossfire board still support one Nvidia card?

Crossfire board will not support SLI but will still work with single Nvidia card.

SLI board will not support crossfire but will still work with single ATI card.

If you want crossfire: RD600 / 975X
If you want SLI: 650i / 680i
