hi i have around 2k would u plz spec me a rig :D

no holds barred 2k is just a min amount dont matter if it goes over a tad..... oh this will be running on a 23" tft

i will be running windows vista ultimate edition....... good/bad?

2 PSUs?

*edit* Picture loaded up wrong first time

Good spec anyway, only a 23"? You wont do a £2,000 pc justice with that!

its because theres 2x750gbs, Which might be overkill, maybes it'll be smarter(AND CHEAPER) getting 3x500s?
Plus the GTX is close to £500, there are cheaper really.
Also the case is a bit posh. :)

Wow, I'm underwhelmed by what 2k will buy. I'd have thought for that much you'd be able to get a quad core proc and a pair of 8800GTXes.

You can, just kicked this up, not the best but good. :)

cut the PSU down to an OCZ 700w GameXStream.

Another two harddrives is possible then, but I'd simply invest it in a 680i board so that both those 8800GTX's have full PCI-E x16 bandwidth on both lanes. (I'm not saying that there's necessarily a performance increase, it's just a nice touch.)

700w gx has had reported problems with gtx sli, 1kw doesnt.
As i said it wasnt a proper spec up, rather a demo that you can get a quad core and gtx sli for that money. I would go for a 680i if it was me even then, x16 shows small gains over x8 with gtx's, just for the total package.

er, 2xGTXs? Anyone even bothered to ask what resolution his 23" monitor will display? 2xGTXs strike me as overkill as im betting its 16x12

Could be an apple 23", that does 1920x1200 :)

The spec has a quad core and the fastest pair of gpu's currently available and is within the budget, so it's not problem anyway.

thx for the replys and the specs :) ...... now its just a matter of choosing the right 1 do i go for the duo or quad core

(23" was a typo ) my monitor is a 24" Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 6ms max res 1920x1200 /60hz

was actually thinkin of upgrading that too but wanted to have as mutch money as poss for my rig

just games no encoding or owt like that....... the odd movie now and again

is vista really that bad for gaming ?

Most 23 are 1920x1200
Even then a single 8800 gtx will cope fine

Then no need for Quad if not encoding.

Can't say that Vista is bad for games, just not fully-ready (can point fingers at both parties).

How about...

For PC-B20B, see here

get a quadcore for the sake of it, a lot of games will be multi-threaded, therefore taking advantage of as many cores that are present. Just get one GTX, put the other £400 away for a year or so's time for the next top of range :)

Haven'tgot the links handy but if you search around nvnews and xtremesystems forums, you will find a number of people with boot/heavy load problems with them. :)
