Can add a 2nd 6950 for this in the future also use MX-3 or MX-4 paste with the cpu cooler which will give you great temps.

thanks sycho, just been havin a look at the parts you have suggested, its given me a few things to think about, im guessing it would just be too much over my budget to go i7

You looking for a complete new build or do you have old stuff you can use?
i havnt actually decided wether to use some of my existing parts and sell what i dont use afterwards, im thinkin the hard drives i would keep, and i have 2 optical so im ok with those, my psu could do with an upgrade as i only have a 600w, and my case is a bit dated now, iv got a thermaltake tai chi custom painted in gold

No, you could, but it wouldn't benefit you in any way for a gaming pc.

Whats the make and model of the PSU?

No point going i7 for gaming and the cpu i suggested is best for your money currently.(gaming performance between the two is very very little.....about 1-3fps or so which no cares about as you will be playing games maxed anyway at smooth frame rates especially considering you can crossfire in future too.)

The 6950 combined with that cpu handles any game at 1920x1080/1200 res.

If you are just gaming then you wont see a real benefit from the i7. I think the other guys are right to suggest the i5K which you can overclock to boot. Not sure 8GB of RAM is necessary for gaming but that spec still came in on budget.

I'm adding a link so you can compare the i5 and i7, so you can see what we are talking about.

Are there any cases that have caught your eye? With your budget there's not too much restriction on your choice of cases so if you tell us what you like the look of then people can build a spec around it, or similar looking cases if they are better and still within budget.

At the end of the day your the one that's gonna be looking at it so you wanna get something you like the look of.

Also what CPU cooler are you currently using?

im using a bog standard intel cooler, the one case i have been lookin at was the antec dark fleet df10, but im unsure as to wether the cable management is any good, in my rig now, wires are all over the place, and id love to hide as many as possible

Apparently the cable management is pretty bad to non-existent but I just read that from a forum, and I'm struggling to find a proper review on it lol

  • Excellent quality SSD to use as cache for one of your HDD's (a feature of the Z68 motherboard).
  • GTX570 for top end game and CUDA support in applications which support it.
  • Good quality air cooler for some over clocking.
  • Superb case with excellent cable management.
  • No other HDD's specified due to you already having them.
  • No optical drive specified due to you already having one.
Your current PSU would suffice for this build but it would not leave you much headroom to play with imho so if you wanted to do SLI at some point then you would need to buy another one.
