Existing router keeps dropping the wireless connection and i have upgarded to latest firmware and tried everything so I am gonna scrap it. Basically, I am looking for a new router that can dish out 4 wired connections, one of which is hard wired the length of the house. At this end of the house, I would like to connect a wireless access point so that my son, myself and my wife can all access the net when sat in the living room with laptops/iphones etc.

Anyone got a good recomendation for me?

Blueyonder Virgin Telewest or whatever its called

Netgear FP114 I think it is

Quite happy to buy a new router and access point together really - would like something thats matched and easy to set up

Current router is fubar.

Keeps dropping connection to msn at the same time as dropping the wireless connection so am assuming there is something wrong.

Do i need a knowledge of linux to use that router?

Not really. You should definitely install the "Tomato" custom firmware on it though - far more options and such.

Could you not just disable the wireless on the current router if you're using your AP? Or do you need it elsewhere in the house too?

I could but it still drops messenger occasionally too so think I will go with two of these from you guys recomendations.

read a few reviews here too and they look pperfect - two won't break the bank and should ensure reliability now.
