Changed my motherboard and this one doesn't have dual gigabit lan so I'm not able to feed an ethernet cable from my pc into the the other pc through the wall in order to share the internet.

I've been thinking about doing the following with a wired router and I would appreciated it if anyone could advise me if this is the best thing to do, and also reccomend the best router for me. Budget around £40ish.

I use the internet for gaming and torrents if that is important. :)

Edit: Do wireless routers allow you to used wires too? For example I have this set up and then allow nextdoor to access the wireless side of the router?

Without knowing what kind of internet connection you've got, it's impossible to recommend anything.

Yes. You should beware that most ISPs take a dim view of you sharing out the connection though.

Thanks for the reply.

Its the 4mb package with Virgin Media. Modem is a Webstar DPX100 if it helps. Main concern is just getting the net back on the PC in the room next to mine. Stop the grief off my sister :D.

Hi I am going to try this setup, what I would lke help with is in the scenario below where my son needs to use the net from a pc which has a wall dividing the modem and router, would he need any special equipment to recieve the signal wirelessly, such as a special adapter?
Could someone please make me a list of what I would need to get these two pc's online together.
