Hi all,

I'm looking for an fairly mid range router that offers good 'bang for buck' we have about 8 or so wireless devices like laptops phones etc that need to be catered.

Also may be needed an 8 port gigabit switch to network together all the ports in each room in the house. (all built in as it is a fairly new house)

I am guessing i haven't provided enough information because i don't really know much about routers or networking.

Thanks

Billion 7800N
Netgear DGN1000

TP-Link TL-SG1008
Netgear ProSafe GS108

Something should fit your budget.

Cisco CRS3

.. Although probably a bad choice for you as it doesn't have WiFi ;P

So as i have gather so far, gigabit Ethernet is only of any use when transferring across the LAN because our internet speed is around 12MB/s maximum. So would it be adequate to get a 10/100Mb/s router and then a gigabit switch? This will enable the gigabit LAN capabilities (apart from on wireless) but keep the cost away from an expensive router?

Thanks. From your recommendations i have found this router which looks to be in a sort of mid range: TP-Link TD-W8960N

It seems to get great reviews on reliability and seems to be suitable for what i need at a decent price of around £35.

Are there any downsides to this router i have missed?
