Spec me a router

I have been asked to spec a new router. It needs:

to be rack mounted
VPN support
Gigabit WAN port
No wireless required
Ideally can be configured with a GUI rather than command line

Any recommendations?

What VPN support is required?

You mention Gigabit WAN. What throughput is required?

It needs to support VPN for remote access to the network. The line is currently 120Mbps.

Current router is a Draytek Vigor 2920 which even with the latest firmware is throttling the line. I have tested with a another router and have got 100+ mbps so that's the reason for replacing it.

Just an idea build one with pfsense or untangle. You will have very little problems with throughput then.

The throughput is only an issue with this particular router as more than likely its faulty.

We have a small existing rack that's in a cleaners cupboard. Don't ask me why as its not our building. We are going to probably use the same model router at our other office as remote user VPN access is needed there also. Really just looking for a rack mountable router rather than alternatives.

What throughput is the Vigor managing? I know Draytek rate it at 100Mbit, but SmallNetBuilder's test results were higher.

That's very low. My 2920 easily handles my 72 Mbit FTTC connection.

I have had a play with some recommended settings suggested on the Draytek forums but have only increased it to 55 Mbps.

Can anyone recommend any other routers?
